Wedding Budget – say it quickly and it won’t hurt as much!!! But it’s one of the first things you have to consider when starting to plan your wedding.  With the average cost of a wedding for 80 guests currently sitting at £23,900 (2025) it’s an eye watering amount of numbers!

In its nature an Elopement is often smaller which can mean a reduced budget. Or maybe you want to spend exactly the same amount but spend it entirely on you with that bucket list trip you have always dreamed of perhaps? That’s absolutely your prerogative!

Often you don’t have the need for a big venue so no need to book months in advance and you can choose a day of the week and timings that work for you – a huge relief to a lot of couples.

Location – Elopement weddings coupled with a Celebrant ceremony gives you flexibility and freedom to choose anywhere you want for your perfect “I Do” moment. As you may expect I’m completely open to this (although as mentioned before I’m shocking at heights!!!). Imagine the photographs the pair of you are going to have. 

Fusion – you can of course have an Elopement wedding that fuses all of the elements.  Have an intimate ceremony in your dream location and then go big but definitely no need to go home! Instead have a big party straight after surrounded by everyone you love.

What’s the difference between a Celebrant and a Registrar is a question I get asked a lot and I love to explain it in a way that everyone can relate to by using one of my favourite things…

Imagine your wedding ceremony is like choosing a cake – stay with me here!

A Registrar ceremony is like grabbing a premade cake from a bakery’s display. 

They are delicious and enjoyable, but you don’t have as much say in the flavours or decorations as they follow a set recipe.

Imagine them as a superhero cake, saving the day with legal powers! They’re the ones who make your marriage official in the eyes of the law but they are often vanilla but form a solid base.

A Celebrant ceremony is like a custom-made cake from your favourite bakery. 

You get to choose all the delicious flavours adding the vibrancy of say a flavourful raspberry filling paired with a salted caramel drizzle for an explosion on your tastebuds.  

You then choose colours, add some decorations and even add some extra sprinkles to every layer. It’s unique and tailored just for you!

So if you’re happy with a tasty slice of tradition, the Registrar ceremony is the way to go but if you want your wedding to be as unique as a custom cake creation with a cherry on top, go for the Celebrant ceremony.
